WOB Turkey İstanbul Convention Statement

We will not give up our rights and struggle.

İstanbul Convention:

•    It was created with hard struggle and effort based on the needs of women, it is not an imposition. It is the cornerstone of the women's right movement.
•    It is the first international document defining gender.
•    It is our roadmap for the fight against domestic violence and empowerment of women.
•    As the first signatory and implementer, it is our honour.

We want an egalitarian order in which women are given the right to live, are not confined to the home, placed at the centre of the social life, where their labour is observed, and empowerment policies are embodied.

We know that if we do not stand against violence and share life fairly and equally, our goal of being a healthy and developed society will be damaged. We want to remove the barriers to social development one by one.

We know creating a future with partnership and equality at its core, eliminating violence and inequalities of opportunity in all aspects of life will pave our way in the business world and move our society further. We believe in this.

We continue our activities based on our belief in the social and economic benefits provided by equal gender representation in management and decision-making.

Our interests and our future are common.

We oppose withdrawing from this agreement of spearheaded of Turkey and endangering the benefits of the creation as Women on Board Turkey Association.

We invite all business people, politicians and representatives of non-governmental organizations of our country to be in solidarity with women's organizations and to embrace this issue.

If applied, the Istanbul Convention saves a life.
